This is what parents have to say about their Junior High experience at MLHS:
“This year has been awesome from day one for Samuel. We gave it a 200! He is a totally different kid and it shows in every way. This change into the Jr High is a blessing that finally came true. And we did it! Almost a month that we got done with school the report card came! From last year to this one there is no comparison and thanks to the great teacher that cares about this kids and for that I'm grateful beyond words. Thanks Teresa Kiehl for a great year. And WE- he even got into the Honor Roll both semesters !!!🥳🥳🥳 Now into the next chapter High school!!! -Juan C Marroquin and Veronica Balderas, parents of Samuel in grade 8
“Moving 7th and 8th grade to MLHS was an excellent idea! Our son Cedar likes the change of scenery. It's like one big family! He loves being a part of the high school environment. All the teachers are so helpful and he enjoys moving to different classrooms.” -Jamee and Tara Bohlsen, parents of Cedar in grade 8
“John has really enjoyed the atmosphere at Martin Luther! Mrs. Kiehl has cultivated a positive and productive classroom culture and her expertise in differentiated education has resulted in smooth academic sailing for our son! John has encouraging things to say about all of his classes and enjoys having a variety of teachers for different subjects. Mr. Bergt has even turned John into a big math fan! Building off the strong foundation provided by St. James Lutheran elementary, Martin Luther Junior High has built a secure bridge for our son to progress academically, socially and spiritually from elementary to high school. We are so grateful for this opportunity!” -Pastor John Henry and Laura Henry, parents of John Henry IV in grade 8
“Our son Levi was previously enrolled at SJL in Northrop. He is currently at Martin Luther Junior High. He enjoys going to school there. He likes the opportunity to move to different classrooms and experience different teachers. He also enjoys the ability to interact with the high school students. So far he is having a successful year.” -Rick and Lisa Stevens, parents of Levi in grade 8
“We are very thankful for the opportunities that Hailey has been offered in her first year at MLHS Jr High School! She has enjoyed being part of Yearbook, Spirit Club and Volleyball so far! Spanish class is also new to her, and their first project was making a piñata, which she had a lot of fun with! We look forward to seeing her explore more activities as time goes on! Hailey attended St James Lutheran School through 6th grade and the transition has been so smooth! She has a very positive attitude, which we attribute to all of the staff that work with these kids every day, and Pastor Henry! They have also been able to attend Chapel at SJLS, which we feel has been helpful in that they can still be part of the students and teachers there as well!” -Josh and Joni Howe, parents of Hailey in grade 7
In April of 2022 St James Lutheran Church and School asked MLHS to consider adding their 7th & 8th grade students to our student body for the 2022-2023 school year.
After much careful consideration the MLHS Board and the MLHS Delegates have agreed to do this idea. This move will enhance the Christian education as a whole. It will benefit students, families and both SJN and MLHS Ministries. The St James voters put the final stamp of approval on this idea on June 1st.
The 7th & 8th classes at St Paul, Fairmont and St Paul's, Truman will remain as is. MLHS will continue to enthusiastically support our grade school ministries as we all stand together in a united ministry.
This addition also opens MLHS up to those families who have students graduating 6th grade at area Christian and public schools. All students are welcome to be blessed by a Christian junior high experience.
