ATHLETICS

Excellence in Athletics as it pertains to our mission and vision statements
​as well as coaching expectations:


1.  Run in such a way as you May win - 1 Cor 9:24-27:  We need to promote doing our best in every and all circumstances.

2.  Grade School Success - Prov 22:6:  Our programs' success requires initiation at the grade school level, which includes development of consistency in Skill Development, Vocabulary, and Christian Culture.

3.  Team - 1 Cor 12 & 1 Peter 4:10:  "Team" needs to be properly defined.  Athletes need to be taught and then reinforced in the fact that each athlete on the team has an important role, and that each athlete needs their teammate(s) in order to be successful.

4. Fun (Joy) - 3 John 4 & Matt 5:16:  Athletics should be elevated beyond the emotional highs and lows to a level of Joy in which fun is defined as effective use of our gifts.  The ability to utilize our God given talents is "fun" independent of wins and losses, which would also include teaching others in developmental camps for aspiring, younger athletes.

5. Coaching - James 1:22:  Our coaches should be sound Christian role models, "doers."   This requires not only that our coaches know the "x's and o's" of the game, and the proper mechanics of the game.  It also requires that they can effectively teach them.  In other words, our coaches need to possess the "science and art of teaching" their sport.

As a result of defining the Excellence of Coaching, this plan is shared with our coaches, specifically those sports in which we have a majority of student participation.
