Instructor: Mrs. Veronica Balderas
Veronica lives in Martin County with her husband and children. They have lived in the U.S. for 9 years. She was born in Monterrey, Mexico. She attended the Universities of UANL and ITNL has her Bachelors Degrees in Veterinary Medicine and in Business Management with a specailty in publicity. The Marroquin/Balderas family are members at Zion Lutheran Church, Fraser in rural Fairmont and their children attend St. James Lutheran School, Northrop. Veronica's hobbies include crocheting, raising goats and loving her family. She currently teaches Spanish I and II to MLHS students. Even though she had studied English for 3 years in a private English school in Mexico, she found the listening part very difficult when moving to the states. "It is very important to practice, practice, practice when learning a new language," she says, "Let it go and don't be afraid to make mistakes. We all learn from mistakes." She sees an acute need for Hispanic speaking adults to become assimilated into the U.S. culture. Her desire is to help them succeed in their lives here in the U.S. and to feel welcome. |
