Let me tell you a story about an anonymous man He was a father, a dedicated Christian man He had some kids and life was going as he planned But as years went by, things changed in this land His kids were taught some things he didn’t believe They lost their desire to serve, succeed, and achieve So to Martin Luther High School he transferred his teens Where they learned and blossomed and gleamed Time has marched on for this wonderful man His kids are on their own but their lives are in God’s hands Figures and numbers are part of his life He uses his talents to maximize his tithe And this is what he says, “Because MLHS holds a special place in my heart, And I believe everyone can do their part.” He wants MLHS to: Teach teens to live, know, and love JESUS In this crazy world that seeks to deceive us So, Because Christmas is a time of giving Because we just observed Thanksgiving Because we need to keep Jesus’ Light shining In this dark, sad world where the lost are repining Because of God’s blessing and the ministry needs He’s rising to the cause and wants to plant a seed. He’s challenging you to match his $5,000 for giving fun To help with Student Tuition Aid for 2020-2021.
Who would have thought 2020 would go this way? At MLHS we got through the past school year and dealt with all the COVID hocus pocus. We graduated our Senior class outdoors and sent them off into the world. It was truly an emotional, uncertain time, but we also noticed something miraculous—God is clearly present and active in our world. He is THE ONE in control and THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD.
Then we stepped into the 2020-2021 school year. Our loving Lord is still present in our tumultuous lives. Because we know that in-person learning is the best way to carry-out this Ministry, we have been able to be face-to-face with most of our students since August 28th. Students (and teachers) want to be here!
But it has not come without trials, stress, or confusion. What is so glorious about our Ministry is we can give comfort, assurance, and guidance to our students every day—all based on Jesus Christ and His unending love. This truly is THE ONE THING NEEDFUL!
Because we do education THIS WAY, MLHS receives minimal government funding. COVID has presented us with a bunch of financial hurdles.
God gives us reminders of His presence through countless miracles. 1. Fifty-one students in our school who come with colorful personalities, a plethora of needs, and from as far away as Spain and Slovakia. 2. Fourteen students in the Freshman class with three from Immanuel Lutheran School, Lakefield. 3. Students who spontaneously applaud when they are told we will maintain in-person learning. 4. Alumni who come back for visits and share what a great impact an MLHS education made on them. 5. Pastors who lead us in chapels and voice their public support of MLHS. 6. Dedicated and talented staff who have adapted and thought “outside the box” in countless ways. 7. Faithful friends who support fundraising events—in spite of COVID revisions. 8. A talented, new Music Director who has a love for kids, a passion for music, and a heart for Lutheran education. 9. Parents who are committed to providing a Christian high school education for their child and sacrifice much to make that happen. 10. People who partner in the MLHS Ministry and want to share their blessings with others to lighten the next person’s burden and share the Light of Jesus.
This donor has asked us to lay his $5,000 Challenge Match before you. He will match what you give up to $5,000. Please help us raise the $90,000 needed to cover the Student Tuition Aid awarded to families this school year.
We are asking you to help “bear one another’s burdens” so that the next wave of graduates can step out into the world equipped to deal with whatever the world throws at them—with the confidence that only comes from Christ and to share the Light of Jesus to a lost, broken world.
