“Helping Young People lead
active Christian lives and EXCEL academically
through Christian training and nurturing.”
Student life at MLHS is a whirlwind of activity. Students come to school early and often stay late. They like to be at MLHS and develop strong friendships. Teens are encouraged to be involved in as many activities as their schedules allow. This permits them to fully develop their skills and discover hidden talents. More than ninety percent of MLHS students participate in extra-currcular activities.
Athletics
Athletes receive ample playing-time at MLHS. This allows them to improve their skills, build their stamina, reach career bench-mark point levels and obtain local recognition. Accomplished MLHS athletes are regularly tracked by recruiters from colleges and universities. A member of the Minnesota State High School League, MLHS offers a wide variety of boys and girls sports.

Fine Arts
MLHS students are well-rounded and multi-talented. Many students are athletes, National Honor Soceity members and also participate in Fine Arts activities, Student Government and/or Journalism.

Drama productions at the historic Fairmont Opera House allow the "stars" to come out in every actor.

Music offers another opportunity to teach teens that God loves them according to Ms Amber Dermody, our full-time Music Director. Band and choir are offered every day. Students perform several concerts during the year with the Christmas Concert performed on the beautiful stage at the historic Fairmont Opera House. MLHS is a member of the Minnesota Stat High School League and musicians compete at the Region 6A Solo Ensemble Contest. Select musicians perform for charitable events at nursing homes and fundraisers.

Students are able to express their creative talents in art class. A variety of mediums are explored including pottery as the Art Department has their own kiln. Students display their work at the Lutheran Schools Fine Arts Festival and compete in the regional Art show at the Red Rock Center.
Journalism and Student Government
The honor of being a National Honor Society member is taken seriously by MLHS students. Members are inducted in October.
Student government can be serious, productive and a whole lot of fun at MLHS. Student Council members play an active roll in the operations of the school. Above left: Bowdie Bentz served as Page at the MN State Capitol for one week, learning about politics and government operations.

Journalism is another opportunity for creative expression. The Knightly News written by students is published monthly.
The Shield is a pictorial history of the school year in book and DVD format. The yearbook staff develop photography and desktop publishing skills.
Service

A central part of the education at MLHS is "education of the heart". Teaching teens to experience the joy of giving and serving is a way to put "faith into action." Students are encouraged to volunteer at their home church, in the community and through activities at MLHS.

Living Life to the Fullest
Growing older doesn't mean that you can't have fun!
Students at MLHS have the confidence in themselves to have fun. They are willing share their faith. They are proud of their school. Students find learning, living and serving to be "the best time of their lives!"
